On a beautiful day in April, the Massapequa Soccer Club played host to Etoile Carouge FC, a professional club out of Courage, Switzerland whose first team has a history of top flight football and currently plies their trade in the Swiss 1. Liga Classic.  Etoile Carouge brought their 2004s Academy players for a day of friendlies against a pool of Massapequa's Elite 2004 and 2003 players as well as the New York Cosmos Academy 2004s.  The games and the evening festivities were organized by Massapequa SC's Director of Coaching Richard Nuttall.

Etoile Courage FC's 2004s on tour from Switzerland traveled out from NYC via train and spent the day with our Massapequa boys.  Game one was a matchup of MSC versus Etoile Courage in which ECFC showed their class and technical abilities.  Massapequa gave up possession to the visitors, but kept things tidy at the back and hit them on the counter twice.  The MSC boys finished their chances on the counter and narrowly defeated our guests in game one.
Game two saw MSC face the New York Cosmos Academy 04 boys.  The game was closely contested with MSC ahead moving towards full time.  A late free kick was awarded well outside the 18 and the Cosmos converted on an extraordinary try with only seconds to play to level the game.  It was a well-played contest all around.
Game three was a matchup of the Cosmos' boys and ECFC in which the Etoile Carouge boys poured on their class moving the ball, dominating possession and playing some beautiful football that was a delight to all onlookers.  ECFC was too much for the Cosmos boys and came away with an impressive victory.
At the finish of play, the boys were joined by Town of Oyster Bay Councilman Louis Imbroto.  He congratulated the boys on some fine play and posed for some group photos commemorating the day.  The boys gathered behind the Massapequa SC Banner and displayed the commemorative game kit gifted to Massapequa by our Etoile Carouge guests.
The day continued away from Massapequa with a trip to Hofstra University for a group dinner and some bonding during a Hofstra v. FC Euro game at night.  The boys made some great new friends and the practical language barrier was broken down by our shared language of the game we all love.  We trust that our guests enjoyed their day on Long Island and we look forward to a return trip or perhaps an MSC trip to Switzerland!
